Learn how to do long division with polynomials in our video!
It's also a quick sample of how virtual tutoring looks from the students' perspective.
When students struggle with their educational goals, they put tremendous amounts of pressure on themselves to improve - pressure that can cause stress and make students even less likely to succeed. At Bright Futures Wellness Center we meet students at their current level and help them build confidence, decrease stress and find their academic strengths. We empower students to take ownership of their education.
Everyone learns at different rates and in different ways. No matter what skillset students brings to our sessions, we strive to help our students improve upon them. We love twisting and turning a concept until we see that Ah-HA spark in learning. Sometimes that requires us to ask for lots of feedback at the beginning (Does that make sense? Do you feel solid on this? Ok now you tell me about this…). We want students to feel comfortable reaching out and asking for clarification on concepts they are struggling with. Our goal is to make learning an interesting (possibly fun!) exploration while providing support to raise confidence and ultimately help students find their strengths.
Our Tutoring Center includes a wide workspace with assorted math tools/resources, graphing calculators, and guest WiFi for students to complete online assignments.

Lisa M. Sciotti - Math
*THIS IS SCIOTTIOMETRY*
No, that's not an actual subject - it's a phrase a parent used to describe the way Lisa helps students understand mathematics....and it stuck!!
Lisa has been teaching and tutoring math since 2015. She has a BA in Mathematics and completed the Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) at Oakland University. To compliment her Mathematics degree, she chose a Communications minor to help her acquire the skills to explain math in meaningful ways to students. Currently Lisa is a math instructor for the University of Michigan Wolverine Pathways Program, supporting middle school and high school scholars on their journey to higher education.
Lisa also substitute teaches in local middle/high schools. Chippewa Valley Schools specifically requested her to cover ten-long term teaching assignments in seven years. When teachers returned after their medical leaves, former students tracked her down for tutoring, and Bright Futures Wellness Center was born! Prior to teaching, Lisa was a systems engineer in the automotive industry.
Lisa has completed the Hands-On Parent Education (HOPE) Center behavioral treatment program for children with autism through Beaumont Hospital, and continued training with Beaumont’s Children with Autism Reaching Excellence (CARE) behavioral treatment program.
